Healing begins with connection. This space, here, in a digital world, is an invitation to connect, to see if you and me will be a good fit to work together.
A wise teacher once told me "We are all just walking each other home". Part of my work as a therapist is helping you remember the way back home, back to yourself. Yes, yes, yes, I have all these qualifications and degrees, and you can find more about those here, but what do I know about this path of healing ? Well, I know that the path to healing is a path back to the self. And each path is as unique as the individual walking it. If you have been affected by trauma, stress, or loss, it’s likely that you have created a number of emotional and physical ‘disconnects’ as a means of coping. You might be disconnected from your body, from parts of your being, from your essence, your intuition, your creativity, sexuality, or the whole world. These disconnects are the psyche’s way of dealing with difficult experiences. But you are here because it’s time to heal. And I am inviting you to discover the healer within. Together we can discover how you can reconnect with your true self in a way that is both deeply healing and full of freedom and possibility. I specialize in recovery from trauma and anxiety and help people navigate through grief. I want to tell you that your safety and wellbeing is important to me and I take time to educate myself in therapeutic approaches grounded in recent research. But my therapeutic approach as a whole is a concoction of old and new healing modalities. This blend is informed by the amazing field of neuroscience, or ‘how we are wired’ and deeply rooted in the transformational power of a personal narrative. I believe that when we reconnect to ourselves, and our story, we can access a freedom that opens the doors that have been closed. I balance this scientific approach to therapy with ancient healing practices passed to me by my grandmothers and wise teachers who hold secrets of ancient medicines from shamanic and mystical traditions. I also believe that nature is the greatest healer. Honouring wise, wild nature and human wholeness is essence of my work in the world. I am not separate from what I do. I am familiar with trauma, it has moved through my life. My healing journey offered me beautiful gifts while my studies resulted in a toolbox full of healing tools. But before we get to using the tools, my first goal in therapy is to SEE you and to UNDERSTAND what is it that you need to be the person you were born to be. The person you were meant to be before you had to cope, adopt, change, please, appease, flight, or fight for your survival. Once we know who you are and what you need, we will embark on a journey to help you recover your strengths, your resiliency, your gifts. This is where I become a guide. As your guide, I will be protective. I will not let you beat yourself up or lie to yourself. I will hold you accountable yet ask you to learn a lesson of self compassion. I will not promise a quick one session cure to lifelong destructive patterns and I will also not waste your time and help you stay focused on your tangible goals. I will hold space for you so you can dive deep, retrieve your treasures, heal the wounds, and come back home. Home to your Self. Here you can learn more about who I am as a human & therapist? A true teacher does not ask you to follow their light, they guide you to find your own. I have been blessed to study with many beautiful elders who weave the way, walk the heart walk, and share it with others. I offer my wholehearted gratitude to my ancestors & my teachers: Babushka Luba, Baba Lena, Babulya, Baba Polya, Clarissa PIncola Estes, Vikky Reynolds, Layla Saad, Robin Wall Kimmer, Virginia Satir, Toko-pa Turner, Dare Sohei Carrasquillo, Jennifer Mullan, The Lineage of Ulchi Healers, Mat' Sira Zemlya, Mother Nature, and of course, the Great Mystery, Life. I am grateful to live and do my work on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples -Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. |
